UND Engineering Selected for Advanced Turbine Research

New Research Grant Funding at NDSU


NDSU recently announced a slate of new funding for various research and specialized research infrastructure projects, including $10.7 million from NIH and various NSF funded projects:

NDSU Visual and Cognitive Neuroscience Center Awarded $10.7 Million from NIH: The NDSU Center for Visual and Cognitive Neuroscience (CVCN) has received a five-year, $10.7 million competitive grant renewal from the National Center for Research Resources, a component of the National Institutes of Health.

Fargo's Appareo Systems Named to 2010 Inc. 500 List: #1 in Engineering Sector


Fargo's Appareo Systems has been named to the prestigious Inc. 500, a list of the nation's fastest growing private companies. The company was ranked 159th overall, and was rated the nation's fastest growing company in the engineering industry.

Department of Energy Announces $30 Million in Funding for Small Business Clean Energy Technologies

This week DoE announced new SBIR Phase III funding to help commercialize small business discoveries funded by SBIR Phase I and II grants. Up to $3 million over a 3 year period will be available per award. Submission deadline is August 4, 2010.

UND Chemist Mark Hoffman Studying Molecule Interaction in Air Pollution


The Grand Forks Herald featured the work of University of North Dakota Chemist Mark Hoffman today. Hoffman and his team study chemical reactions at the molecular level using high performance computing models.

UND chemist Mark Hoffmann doesn’t study air pollution, and he doesn’t study the atmospheres of distant worlds — but he can tell you how they work at the molecular level.

Northern Tier Broadband Network Supports RRVRC Research Activity


The AP recently reported that the twelve state broadband network established in 2003 to support resarch and education activities on the northern plains is in good shape despite continued university budget cutbacks. From the AP article:

Valley City State Establishes the Great Plains STEM Education Center


Valley City State University just announced a new science, technology, education, and mathematics training center for K-12 students and teachers, thanks in part to Senator Byron Dorgan, who helped secure $1.13 million in federal funding for initiatives at the center.
