Life Sciences

Center for Biopharmaceutical Research and Production

The Center for Biopharmaceutical Research and Production performs market-driven research and develops biopharmaceuticals, including vaccines, to treat diseases. It was established in 2008 as a North Dakota Economic Development Center of Excellence to perform all aspects of biotechnology research and development, including basic science research, animal testing, human trials, product development, and manufacturing.

Neuropsychiatric Research Institute

NRI conducts and supports clinical research to develop creative, innovative approaches to the care of patients with diseases of the brain. The Institute funds and manages projects which draw together scientists from the University of North Dakota and North Dakota State University with physicians practicing in the Red River Valley.

Center for Protease Research

The Center for Protease Research, an NIH/NCRR/COBRE supported center, has broad-based research programs to provide fundamental information on how proteases, key biological players, impact several diseases. The center works to carry out cutting edge research in biomedical science, foster growth of biomedical research in the state of North Dakota, and to increase the availability of well-trained personnel with biomedical expertise for employment in the region and beyond.

Bio-imaging and Sensing Center

The Bioimaging and Sensing Center is committed to discovery, development and adaptation of cost-effective and intelligent sensors / sensing systems for biological applications (plants, animal & associated biological systems including safety/wellness of human systems). The center, founded in 1992, has conducted research projects with and for the the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, various crop grower associations, and private industry.

Grand Forks Human Nutrition Research Center

The Grand Forks Human Nutrition Research Center is one of six Human Nutrition Centers operated by the Agricultural Research Service of the United States Department of Agriculture. The Nutrition Center has numerous partnerships with universities, other government agencies as well as commodity groups. The 92,000-square-foot center contains state-of-the-art facilities for research with humans and animals, and multiple chemical and biochemical laboratories.

Center for Biomedical Research

The Center for Biomedical Research at the University of North Dakota’s School of Medicine and Health Sciences is home to a state-of-the-art animal research facility.

Basic Sciences Imaging Center

The Basic Sciences Imaging Center at the UND School of Medicine and Health Sciences provides advanced instrumentation for researchers interested in investigating biological processes at the cellular, sub-cellular, and molecular level.
